Just thought I’d toss out a reminder to all of you who have cash back credit cards with rotating categories. The current 5 percent cash back categories are valid from July 1, 2012 through September 30, 2012. July is almost over, but there’s still plenty of time to take advantage of the savings opportunities with these cards.

Remember that you have to sign up to activate your rewards. It’s quick and painless. I’ve included a sign-up link along with each credit card so you can easily click over to the card’s website and sign up using your account number. One of my goals in life is to make things as easy as possible for you. I know, I’m awesome.

Here are the categories for some of the most popular cards:

Chase Freedom Visa: Earn 5 percent cash back on gas stations and restaurants on up to $1,500. If you haven’t been on vacation yet, use this card to pay for gas and for dining out. Click here to go to the activation dashboard.

Discover More Card: Earn 5 percent cash back on gas stations, theme parks, and movies on up to $1,500. You know what? This screams vacation, too. Or at the very least, it gives you and your kids something to do to ward off boredom until school starts back. Click here to go to the sign-up page.

Citi Dividend Platinum Select Visa: Earn 5 percent cash back on airline and rental car purchases, plus 5 percent cash back at the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap Outlet and Banana Republic Factory Store. Back-to-school shopping, anyone?

Now, your cash back with this Citi card is limited to $300 per calendar year. You get 1 percent on everything with this card, so the $300 maximum includes both your 1 percent rewards and what you earn from the 5 percent categories. Click here to go to the enrollment page. You can also call 1-800-231-0891 to enroll.
