I'm an award-winning freelance financial journalist and author with twenty years of professional writing and public speaking experience. I specialize in personal finance and small business issues. I'm a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors.
I'm also a spokesperson and contributing editor for CardRatings.com, the most comprehensive and free source for credit card information. If you're with the press, click here to see my media bio.
My book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Person-to-Person Lending (with co-author Curtis E. Arnold; Alpha Books/Penguin, 2009) is availalble on Amazon and in major bookstores.
I'm working on two books that will be published in 2011. I'm writing a book about investing in municipal bonds (John Wiley & Sons) and co-authoring a book about entrepreneurs and financial success (Greenleaf Publishing).
I've written for a variety of national magazines, websites, and custom publications including Better Homes and Gardens, Good Housekeeping, Bankrate.com, Cooking Light, CreditCards.com, Bottom Line Wealth, Natural Health, makinglifebetter.com, Wealth Manager, The Rotarian, Navy Federal, Your Business, Natural Solutions, Better Health & Living, Arthritis Today, and Oxygen.
I have an MBA in public relations and I was a CPA in a former life. Although I didn't enjoy my life as a CPA, it was terrific training for writing about personal finance and small business issues.
On a personal note...
I'm proud to say that I'm an actual Atlanta native. I think there are around five of us in the entire Metro Atlanta area. Currently, I live in Johns Creek, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta, with my husband, our two children, an emotionally-needy Shih Tzu, two snakes (allowing the snakes has elevated me to "cool mom" status among my son's peers), and three tropical fish.
I love to exercise and my routine includes yoga, interval training (walking/running), step aerobics, and weight training. I'm also a sports news junkie and a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.
