About Beverly

Beverly Harzog is a national credit card expert and author of  Confessions of a Credit Junkie: Everything you need to know to avoid the mistakes I made (Career Press, November, 2013).

Her book was chosen by Washington Post columnist Michelle Singletary as her Color of Money Book Club pick for December 2013. Beverly’s Books

Her award-winning book, Confessions of a Credit Junkie: Everything you need to know to avoid the mistakes I made,  is the story of how she went from being a credit card disaster to a credit card diva. While weaving in entertaining tales of her credit card misadventures, she shows you how to stay out of debt and even make a profit from your credit cards.

She’s also the co-author of Simple Numbers, Straight Talk, Big Profits: Four Keys to Unlock Your Business Potential (Greenleaf Publishing, June 2011) and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Person-to-Person Lending (Alpha Books/Penguin, April 2009).


Beverly is a sought-after speaker at national conferences. She spoke at the Finance Bloggers Conference (FinCon13) on October 19, 2013 in St. Louis. She’s a regular speaker at College Week Live, the world’s largest online college fair. Beverly does a live webcast at both the spring and fall fairs every year. Almost 90 colleges and more than 500,000 students virtually attend each year. She presented her talk, “Confessions of a Credit Junkie,” most recently on November 21, 2013.

She’s spoken many times at the annual conference of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and at various other annual conferences, including the National Communication Association, Southern States Communication Association, and the National Crisis Management Conference.

Credit Card Expert Witness & Consulting

She’s been hired to serve as an expert witness for legal firms, involving a written analysis to support the firm’s case and answering questions at arbitration hearings. As a consultant, credit-related websites have hired Beverly when they need a credit card expert to review the site and make recommendations for improvement. She’s also available to create custom content that needs an expert touch.

Personal Stuff

Beverly’s a former CPA and has an MBA from the University of New Haven in Connecticut. She also spent two years in a doctoral program at the University of Georgia studying speech communication.

She lives with her husband, two children, Marshall, an emotionally-needy Maltese, and a water snake (no, really) in Johns Creek, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta. She’s an exercise junkie, loves to listen to music (everything but country), and is a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.
